I am a fine art photographer seeking opportunities to show and sell my work in retail, gallery or commercial settings. I am also focused on expanding my technical and artistic abilities through the exploration of new subjects and techniques.
Having a wide range of photographic interests, I eagerly explore new subjects and techniques, and strive to capture and create unique perspectives that tell stories about the extraordinary in everyday life.
Inspired by some of the traditional film photography masters, as well as some of today’s modern digital explorers, I believe that a successful image comes from the right combination and balance of composition, capture and processing.
Influenced by photographic, illustrative and painting techniques, my work often features rich tones and a wide dynamic range. While I enjoy a broad field of subjects, some of my favourite themes include landscape and nature, vintage aviation, and Great Lakes shipping. In addition to using conventional photo capture and processing techniques, I also experiment with a pictorialist style sometimes combining multiple layers to add visual texture to the final image.
Often, the textural qualities of my work make it best suited for printing on gallery canvas. Where applicable, I also have my work printed on fine art paper, acrylic, photo board and wood. All of my work is professionally printed using the best quality archival inks and substrates.
Born in Montreal, I have spent most of my life living and working in Toronto. In 2005, along with my wife, I moved northward to the shores of Georgian Bay and have enjoyed calling Owen Sound home since.
Originally introduced to traditional film and darkroom photography in the late 1980s, a busy (and unrelated) career took me away from the camera and lens for most of the early 2000s. Fortunately, in 2014 circumstances aligned and my passion was reignited.
Having acquired some digital graphic arts experience in my years away from photography made the transition to the digital photo format seem more natural, and I quickly adopted and embraced the new medium.
Inspired by many of the traditional photographic masters, I believe that regardless of the format, a successful image comes from the right combination and balance of composition, capture and processing.
I enjoy exploring new places, subjects and techniques and I believe that my work will continue to evolve over time. Viewing photography as a journey, I will continue trying to articulate a unique artistic perspective on whatever subjects I photograph.
